This traditional ceremony takes place in September at
the
royal palace. Thousands of young Zulu girls arrive to
perform for the king of the Zulu nation, King Goodwill
Zwelithini. The dance celebrates purity.

About thirty poets from twelve different countries will
participate in the 12th Poetry Africa international poetry
festival which takes place in Durban,
with a special celebratory event in Johannesburg.
The extensive week-long Durban programme includes
performances, readings and book-launches every evening at
the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, University of KwaZulu-Natal
with a festival finale at the BAT Centre.
