Eshayamoya Express Aloe Trip

The Second Eshayamoya Express Aloe Trip will take place on Saturday 29 July 2006 - so it's time to book your tickets for this wonderful, steam train journey! Due to increase demand a second steam train trip to Riverside to see the aloes in full bloom along the NGWANGWA river will take place on 29 July 2006. The river is named after the Pied Starlings which nest in abundance in its banks. "Gwee-gwees", but the old Zulu name according to original documents is NGWANGWA. Patons Country Railway will take you with the Eshayamoya coaches and steam train on one of the most memorable train trips ever. The train will leave Creighton station at 2.00 pm, and will travel to Riverside where the locomotive will run around the train. Passengers will be able to experience and photograph the awsome sight of the Aloes in flower. The loco will be travelling smoke box first on the return trip for best sunlight conditions for the photo shoot.

Passengers will not only enjoy a train ride but will also be able to photograph the train and the Aloes at a world class photgraphic site.

Directions to Creighton are simple: From Durban or Pmb. take the Thornville, Richmond, Ixopo road. As you enter Ixopo take a right turn signposted as Ixopo / Underberg. Travel along that road for approximately 18 kms and take the left turn to Creighton. Drive straight on until you see the beautifully restored Creighton Station on your left. Distances from Pmb is approximately 105 kms and Durban 140 kms.
