Musgrave Gains Dockyard Theatre

The popular Dockyard Supper Theatre will soon move up the hill from the Point Waterfront’s harbour entrance to the old Legend’s Restaurant premises in Musgrave Centre. The theatre should be functional by the middle of August.

Durban’s harbour mouth is to be widened to accommodate the much larger container shops plying their trade around the tip of Africa and, as a result, the businesses which have been operating along the harbour entrance need to move.

Plans for the theatre include offering a 24-hour service including breakfast and lunch, after-show and late night jamming.

Shop fitters are already installing a mezzanine floor, stage and refitted kitchen. The bar at the theatre will be called the Drydock – although there will be nothing ‘dry’ about it!

The final show at the theatre’s present venue will be a tribute to Paul McCartney, running until the 30th of July. The first show at the new venue at Musgrave Centre will feature performances of the hits of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr and Dean Martin, in August. For further information, and for bookings, please contact the theatre on 031 332 1086.
