Enseleni Nature Reserve Growing
The city of uMhlatuze - Richards Bay and Empangeni - seeks
to proclaim an expanded nature reserve area covering a
large piece of unspoilt land north east of Empageni, and
the southern sanctuary, near the Richards Bay harbour.
The first public meeting will take place on the 8th of June
at the Richards Bay Civic Centre auditorium.
The aim of the proposal is to maintain biological
biodiversity within the urban environment of Richards Bay,
provide a basis for an ecological corridor connecting the
southern estuary with Lake Nsese and Nseleni Nature
Reserve, protect and maintain the environmental services
generated by the natural environment, provide an aesthetic
and recreational service to the urban regions of Richards
Bay and contribute to local and regional wealth and
upliftment.
