Mkhuze Airport Upgrade Takes Off
The Department of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs has
approved the upgrading of the Mkhuze airport from a
military to a regional one. This airport will serve the
Greater St Lucia Wetland Park world Heritage Site as well
as other surrounding tourist destinations, providing easier
and faster access.
It is estimated that some 34 000 passengers are expected to
fly into the airport during its first year of operation,
and that the airport could generate more then R100 million
for the Elephant Coast region.
