Climate Change will Affect the Tourism IndustryRaise awareness on climate change.
It is important for all sectors of South Africa, including
the tourism industry, to raise awareness about climate
change, reports Travel News Now.
This was one of the messages that came out the four-day
national conference on climate change, which ended on
October 20.
The country’s tourism industry needs to make the connection
between its actions and climate change. It stands to lose a
lot if South Africa’s biodiversity is impacted by a
changing climate as it is heavily reliant on natural
attractions.
"It is agreed that climate change is one of the most
significant global threats to sustainable development in
this century,” said JP Louw, Deat communications director.
He added that if it is not addressed decisively, it could
undermine environmental health, biodiversity and other
areas.
