Got an hour to spare? Want to do something different before breakfast or before that (probably boring) business meeting? No time to travel out of town, but want to use the spare time you have in Durban? Want something for the whole family? Want to show off to the whole family?? Wnat to do, and not just watch? Now it's all possible.

The Jeep uShaka Surf and Adventure Centre is Durban’s first multi-sport ocean activity centre. Initiated by a group of ocean enthusiasts with a dream of opening up the ocean to people of all ages, races and backgrounds. First and foremost is the vision of bringing people together to enjoy the various activities available in Durban including Surfing, Kayaking and Biking.

Join us for a relaxing paddle with the dolphins, get up and riding with our top surf guides or experience the beachfront in a new way on one of our unforgettable mountain bike tours. It really is time you saw the city from the the right side - the oceanside!

Practical Information:

Place: Situated on the beach at uShaka Marine World, Durban’s award winning water park and aquarium.

Plus points: Direct access to the sheltered beach at uShaka, perfect for learner surfers and sea kayaking tours

Full time services, for the first time in Durban, there is a full time watersports centre offering a range of activities. Guides and Instructors are on hand at all time.

All instructors and guides are fully qualified and experienced. Correct insurance and permissions from the city are all in place.

The project is 25% BEE with direct participation by genuine PDI shareholders.

A quick bio of the team down at uShaka:

Allan Wallace

Allan has been surfing for 30 years and coaching all levels of surfing for 5 years. He was one of the first local surfing instructors to introduce previously disadvantaged individuals to surfing and this aspect is close to his heart. Allan is a conscientious, patient coach who is well known for his kind, gentle approach to teaching surfing.

Sibongisene Nxumalo

Sibo has been kayaking both on rivers and in the ocean for 7 years. Trained under the watchful eye of Oscar Chalupski, he is a fully qualified sea kayaking guide and has a great love for the sea. His passion is to ensure that visitors to our city take away an experience of the ocean that will bring them back for more.

Victor Ngema

Up to a few years ago Victor was washing cars on Addington beach. After a chance meeting with Allan Wallace, he was invited to assist with surfing lessons and has now joined the Jeep uShaka Surf and Adventure team full-time. When not in the water assisting with surf lessons, Victor is responsible for the equipment at the centre.

Lana Slumiani

Lana’s passion for surfing and the ocean seems as contagious as her smile. Lana’s goal is to pass on this passion to as many visitors to Durban as possible. A people’s person by nature, Lana runs the operations and client relations side of the business.

Sean Uys

Sean has been involved in teambuilding and adventure tourism for 5 years. Owner of Beach and Bush Adventures, Sean specialises in facilitating corporate teambuilding and leisure groups. His interest is in using the ocean to bring together people of all ages, backgrounds and races.

Jackie Wolhuter

An adventure racer and ultra-distance surfski paddler, Jackie is responsible for the day-to-day running of the centre. Jackie puts together programs and quotes and assists Lana in the client-relations aspect of the business.

It’s really great to see the energy of the team down there and its beginning to look like this project has the potential to be ground breaking and add something truly unique and special to the Durban experience.
