ID card for tourist guides
Tourist guides in South Africa are required to produce an
identification badge as proof of their registration,
reports Natalia Thomson of Travel News Now. Tour operators
are entitled to request this valid identification card from
tourist guides as it will not only verify that they are
registered, but also detail their area of expertise,
regionally and in terms of specialisation.
The measure is aimed at protecting both the tour operator
and tourist guide.For the tourist to enjoy a safe and
unique South African experience, says the national
registrar for tourist guides, the use of a legal tourist
guide is mandatory.
