Indaba Success Again in the Zulu Kingdom

South African Tourism has hailed Indaba 2005, held last week over four days, as a success, citing a growth in both delegate and exhibitor numbers, reports Darren Sandras of Travel News Now.

According to SA Tourism, a total of 10 667 visitors attended the show, representing an 11% increase from last year’s number of 9 629. In terms of buyers, an additional 41%, or 2 303, attended this year compared to 2004, of which 632 were new international delegates and 939 Indaba Club members, defined as those who had attended Indaba more than once. Some 531 local and international media also attended.

“Indaba sent out the strong message that the industry in SA is one with which the international trade can do business with ease and confidence,” said SA Tourism ceo, Moeketsi Mosola.

While Indaba 2006 will again be held in Durban at the ICC, the country’s nine provinces will bid to host the event between 2007 and 2009. The decision will be announced at next year’s show.
