While the dictionary may reduce Bush to a mere 'clump of shrubs', or an 'untilled district'...these somewhat dismissive definitions afford our vast tracts of dramatic wilderness no justice whatsoever. The Kingdom of the Zulu is one of the most protected places on earth - and for very good reason.

Two enormous areas listed as World Heritage Sites are of 'outstanding universal value' to mankind...containing 'superlative natural phenomena... exceptional natural beauty...unique richness of biological diversity... endemic and endangered species of critical importance to science and conservation'.

Between them lies an award-winning, UNESCO-recognised Biosphere Reserve...a progressive concept aimed at simultaneously using and protecting the environment to benefit local communities. They, in turn, shoulder the responsibility of nurturing this precious resource on behalf of future generations.

And in addition to these, a glance at the map shows areas of designated sanctuary highlighting every corner of our Kingdom's topography...more clear indications of our dedication to safeguarding the multifarious eco-systems that constitute the living splendour of our natural heritage.

Bush is the irreplaceable easel of our treasured, ancient rock- paintings and - among our world-renowned, awe-inspiring Wildlife Reserves - the true birthplace of game conservation on the African continent.

Bush, in the Zulu Kingdom, reaches the warm ocean's edge...where threatened giant turtles head for our pristine Beach, and safety. Bush is the sweeping terrain of blood-stained Battlefields...crucial arena to relive the epic three-way struggle of our vividly- described history. Bush stretches to the peak-filled skyline of our majestic Berg...the mountain fastness for imperiled antelope and great birds of prey. Bush surrounds every rural village and town and within metropolitan boundaries, oases of nature offer serene counterpoints to the Buzz of city-life.
