Drakensberg Itinerary

Day 1

Scenic drive through the Valley of Thousand Hills to the Drakensberg Mountain, a proclaimed World Heritage Site Visit a Zulu Village en route After Lunch drive through Pietermaritzburg to view historic buildings of the Capital town of KwaZulu-Natal Proceed to Drakensberg Overnight: Drakensberg

DAY 2

After breakfast depart in a 4X4 vehicle for the ascent up to the “Roof of Africa” Lunch at Sani Pass Chalet Return to Drakensberg for your check in at your hotel Overnight: Drakensberg NB PASSPORT REQUIRED FOR SANI PASS

DAY 3

After breakfast visit the caves to view Bushman’s paintings or horse ride Travel to Weenen Nature Reserve for a Game Drive Lunch in the Reserve before heading back to Durban

Day 1

Depart for Shakaland – Here you will discover traditions and Culture of the Zulu nation Lunch at Shakaland Depart for Hluhluwe Game Reserve – Today your guide will take you to the heart of Zululand and into Big 5 territory! Enjoy the tour guide’s tales along the way and learn about the great Zulu battles and the local people. Check Inn at Hluhluwe Game Reserve Night Game Drive followed by dinner Overnight: Hluhluwe

Day 2

Early morning game drive After a great morning in the bush, a most welcome breakfast awaits you at the lodge. After breakfast depart for Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (Isimangaliso Park) – the second World Heritage Site. Lake St Lucia is the largest estuary in Africa. It is a 38 000 hectare expanse of tidal and semi-tidal water. Also found here is the largest single population of hippo (about 800) - The best way to see them in their natural environment is on of the flat-bottom tour boats, which operate from St Lucia estuary. Overnight: St Lucia Wetland Park

Day 3

After breakfast, depart for Zimbali Lodge Here the visitor has a choice of teeing off in one of the best Golf Estates in South Africa Afternoon at leisure Overnight: Zimbali Lodge

Day 4

Microlite flight over the ocean or horse ride along the beach Breakfast and depart for Durban

The Midlands Meander Tour (1 Day Tour)

Depart hotel for a full day tour of the Midlands Meander This trip will take you through Hilton, Midmar and Howick. Visit Howick falls and the beautiful craft shops You will also stop at where Nelson Mandela was arrested The trip will meander through Natal Midlands and stop at the many Arts and Crafts stalls

Stop for lunch at a countryside restaurant. Included in this trip is a visit to the Nottingham Road Brewery where you can taste the local brew or visit the only Wine Estate in KwaZulu At the Wine Estate the visitor will get a chance to make his/her blend.

Return to Durban
