Our guides are passionate about the natural world and this, combined with their understanding of flora and fauna is guaranteed to truly enhance your holiday. Their eagerness to pass on their knowledge and teach others about the wonders of the natural world shines through wherever they may be leading a tour. Extreme Nature Tours is a family run business. Tours will be guided by either Peter or Charl Koen, both local guides who have resided in the area for over 10 years working as tour guides as well as for the WWF and Natal Parks Board. Although our ‘cc’ is newly established, our guides, Charl and I, are not. We are the two longest running guides in St. Lucia, and together we have guided every possible activity in this area, from estuary and ocean kayaking to birding, night drives to game drives, snorkelling to hiking and camping, we have personal first hand experience of them all. Our range of experience, coupled with our studies in Conservation, has provided us with a huge amount of knowledge and understanding of this magnificent area and all that it has to offer. PETER KOEN • Currently completing 3rd year National Diploma in Conservation • FGASA & THETA Qualified • 12 months Black Rhino Monitoring project for WWF in Wetlands Park • 9 years previous guiding experience • Fluent in English & Afrikaans, with Zulu as a 3rd language • 2003 life guarding qualification and 1st Aid Training • Qualified Deep Sea Skipper CHARL KOEN • BTEC Degree in Nature Conservation • FGASA & THETA Qualified • Practical studies spent as a ranger in the Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Park and the Wetlands Park • 12 years previous guiding experience • Fluent in English, Afrikaans and Zulu • First Aid Certification • Qualified Deep Sea Skipper • 2IC St. Lucia Crocodile Centre • Nationwide guiding experience
